Frequently Asked QuestionsDo I need any previous experience to participate in the activities? The basic answer is NO. Our instructors will gauge the level of difficulty according to age, conditions and fitness. However, please note that our golden rule is ‘NO HIGHLAND ADVENTURE INSTRUCTOR WILL HASSLE, BULLY OR CAJOLE YOU INTO PARTICIPATING AGAINST YOUR WILL' Our advice to group leaders is to choose activities that everyone can participate in and develop skills thus ensuring a rewarding and enjoyable experience. What group sizes do you cater for? Our minimum group number is 10 and maximum is approximately 50 [residential] For activities we normally have a ratio of 10 clients to 1 instructor, and we can take up to 50+ Please note that both accommodation and activities have to be pre-booked. We can take groups for accommodation only from November to end of March and for activities only throughout the year [weather permitting] For school and youth groups [under 18 years] our policy has always been EXCLUSIVITY. ONLY that group will be on our premises for the duration of their stay, and no one else. Because we are specialists in GROUP BOOKINGS we normally have average sized ADULT GROUPS of 20+. Our policy is not to have more than one group on site at any one time. What happens during inclement weather? All groups are advised to bring a waterproof jacket, hood or cap, plus a change of footwear. During spring / summer, rain showers may occur but this does not curtail activities, as most of the activities take place on site, which is well sheltered. Residential groups have the advantage of re-scheduling certain activities if the weather is severe. Do you take unaccompanied children? No we do not take unaccompanied children. All under 18’s must have bona fide leaders who are responsible for the youths’ behaviour and welfare whilst at Highland Adventure. Youths must be a minimum of 9 years old. ONE Adult leader comes FREE for each group of 10 youths. What can Highland Adventure offer Corporate groups? We offer a wide choice of activity choices on site or close by. A superb buffet luncheon [if required] Excellent qualified instruction and an informal prize giving ceremony at the end of a rewarding day. CHECK OUT OUR ARCHERY AND AIR PISTOL TARGET DAY. We also offer budget residential group accommodation and conference facilities. Are the activities safe? Our equipment is of an excellent standard and all our Instructors have the relevant National Governing Body Awards - known as N.G.B.A’s. All Instructors also have First Aid and Disclosure. HIGHLAND ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES only offers low to medium risk activities which have full risk assessments and Liability Insurance which are sent out to groups prior to arrival. Appropriate safety equipment is issued whenever necessary with full instruction given. We have several agency agreements and we comply with all guidelines and regulatory authorities. In order to participate in Water Sports you have to be able to swim a minimum of 25 metres. People participating in Mountain / Trail biking must be able to ride a bicycle competently prior to participating. How do I make payment? You normally pay 50% of the total costs on booking to secure your dates [residential and / or activities] The remaining 50% is paid one month prior to the visit. You will be sent a complete itemized invoice and payment can be made by CHEQUE or BACS [your choice] Repeat customers booking well in advance [often one year] only have to pay 20% deposit to secure your dates.
